A Day in the Life
My Field of
Study
Studying in
Cégep Saint-Laurent in Pure and Applied Sciences, I am thinking about a job
linked at this field of study. I think of being a teacher in physics or mathematics.

24 Hours of
Work for a Teacher
The largest
part of teachers work in an elementary or high school. They teach a certain field of study or are
assigned at students of a certain age. In advance of their course, they need to
prepare a specific program adapted to their students’ capacity. Because classes
starts early, teachers need to get the attention of every student, even the one
with sleep deprivation. Being funny can generate interest for the people having
difficulty maintaining attention in class. Even if the children or teenagers in
the classroom find the subject boring, having the capacity to develop their interest
for the course is an art and is a great honour for the teacher in front. Every
teacher should be able to push their students to there limits to no hamper them
in there education. They need to push them knowing that some students have less
facility in school. Twenty percent of a teacher’s job is paper grading. Every
day, they have a period to execute this job but it is not long enough. So, work
at home has to be done. Adding to this correction work, they need to give their
time for certain jobs as helping students in the library or supervise kids in
the cafeteria. They also have to put time in meeting or talking to the students’
parents and in the school activities. Work for a teacher is also out of the
classroom too because young people need to be framed and helped to have a good
future.
The Process
of Becoming a Teacher
A college
diploma is necessary to become a teacher. You can get it by studying for about
five years on the grade level you’d like to work. They need to get 24 to 36
credits to be specialized about a certain field of study and 18 to 24 credits
to learn how to teach. The last year of studying is doing an internship. To be
a professor, a master is necessary to learn.
Now and Later
Before
1834, school wasn’t helped by the government. Only rich people could attend
school. In those days, school wasn’t like it is today. Classes were filled with
students from different age and different levels. These days, every teacher is
specialised in one subject. The government even started to apply different laws
to frame the education system. The fields with the more jobs offered are
English as a second language, mathematics and sciences.
Quality of
Life
Being careful
of not doing too much is important because a lot of teachers get burn-outs in
their first years of teaching. Teachers succeeding to work in there first five
years without burn-outs are expected to have a great long parkour. After ten
years of working as a teacher, the only thing motivating you is what you give
to this generation. Because, giving knowledge to a generation is rewarding.
Really interesting🤔
